FAQ

We’re here to answer all your questions. We’ve gathered a list of the questions we get asked the most. Don’t see what you’re looking for here? Send an email to sales@unitedlaserservices.com and we’ll get back to you right away – we mean it.

How quickly will I receive my parts?
For in-stock materials, we generally ship parts within 3 business days of receiving your cut-ready files. If there are any issues with your order, we’ll contact you right away. Our cut-off time for processing new orders is 2 pm, Pacific time. Orders received after noon will be started the following business day.

Although we cannot speed up our manufacturing process, overnight shipping is available for some orders. Contact us for more information – sales@unitedlaserservices.com

What’s the largest single part that you can cut? How big are your machines?
Our raw material is typically sourced in sheets 48″ x 120″ overall, which gives us a yield for single parts up to 47″ x 118″. Maximum size for freight/shipping is 46″ x 110″. Freight shipping will be quoted at actual cost.

What’s the thickest material you can cut on the laser?
Mild steel: 1″ (1″)
Stainless Steel: .500″ (1/2″)
Aluminum: .500″ (1/2″)
Brass: .250″ (1/4″)
Copper: .250″ (1/4″)
Titanium: .187″ (3/16″)

What file type or file format can I send you?
Our automated upload system only accepts zip files. We ask that you take your DXF files along with a TXT file and create a list of material types, thicknesses and quantities for each DXF file name. Save all of that into a folder and the zip it using a program like 7-zip or Win Zip. We like 7-zip because it’s free and works great.

How do I setup my file for cutting?
Check out our Design Guidelines page for more information on setting up your files for laser cutting.

Will there be scratches on my parts?
Possibly. Due to our manufacturing process, some cosmetic defects and scratches may be present on your part, especially on the bottom side that contacts the laser bed. Thick aluminum (>.250″) may have a slight burr on the bottom edge. Contact us about finishing options such as ceramic tumbling, brushing/graining or Linear Ultra Finish.

If I send you some metal, can you cut it for me?
YES!  You can drop ship your material to our location. We will tag it as yours, cut your parts and return the rem material to you. Please let our sales team know if you will be bringing material by. sales@unitedlaserservices.com
